Two energy storage systems combined

For the Clever! Electric City Rüsselheim project at HS RheinMain, two energy storage systems (lithium-ion and redox flow) were combined into an overall system.

The purpose behind the system is to supply up to 20 charging stations with as much fully regenerative energy as possible and to provide intelligent load management in order to sustainably limit the expansion of the local grid. In addition, the system serves as a research platform for future battery storage solutions.

The project is part of the “Clean Air 2017-2020” program and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
