Industrial Storage for Siegfried Jacob Metallwerke

Many companies in 2023 are facing the question of a sustainable, future-proof, and simultaneously cost-efficient electricity mix. The use of photovoltaic systems in conjunction with battery storage could be a crucial component in achieving these goals. This was also the case for Siegfried Jacob Metallwerke, for whom we installed a modern industrial storage system for self-consumption optimization.

Battery Storage for PV System

With the goal of sustainably shaping its own electricity mix, Siegfried Jacob Metallwerke decided in the spring of 2023 to build a 50,000 m² photovoltaic system on the 50 hall roofs of the industrial plant. With a peak output of 9.2 megawatts, however, only 35% of this is used in active operation.

To clarify how the surplus energy can be used appropriately, contact was made with be.storaged GmbH to install an industrial storage system to compensate for the atypical consumption behavior.

After the contract was signed in March 2023, the battery storage project with a total of 2.7 MWh was successfully implemented and completed. The decision regarding size, scalability, and volume-based production costs was based on a “Techno-Economic Potential Analysis” (WTPA) previously prepared by be.storaged GmbH, which was provided to the project partner. In addition to pure energy storage, the large-scale storage system now also helps to reduce grid fees by specifically adjusting the load profile.
