Typical applications

Energy storage systems are used in various scenarios. These include Utility Scale storage projects in industrial parks with direct grid connection, which balance peak loads and ensure grid stability. Equally important is the combination of battery storage with renewable generation plants to ensure a reliable supply despite fluctuating feed-in. In addition, grid support points with shared infrastructure are being created, which integrate charging and backup systems and thus create additional synergies.

The current MISpeL procedure of the German Federal Network Agency will in future enable the simultaneous use of green and gray electricity in a storage facility via a measurement concept - which is expected to be relevant for new projects before June 30, 2026.

Green electricity storage vs. gray electricity storage

The demand for grid services, such as storage, stabilization and load management, is growing steadily. Standardized, collaborative solutions enable efficient management of complexity and costs and create new business models.

A green electricity storage is charged exclusively with electricity from the connected renewable energy plant.
