Co-location

Typical use cases of co-location in solar, wind and storage projects

Energy storage systems are used in various scenarios. These include Utility Scale storage projects in industrial parks with direct grid connection, which balance peak loads and ensure grid stability. Equally important is the combination of battery storage with renewable generation plants to ensure a reliable supply despite fluctuating feed-in. In addition, grid support points with shared infrastructure are being created, which integrate charging and backup systems and thus create additional synergies.

The current MISpeL procedure of the German Federal Network Agency will in future enable the simultaneous use of green and gray electricity in a storage facility via a measurement concept - which is expected to be relevant for new projects before June 30, 2026.
