We have successfully integrated our advanced Energy Management System (EMS), okean, into the hardware of Osaki, one of the leading energy providers in Japan. This is a significant milestone in our journey to expand into the Japanese commercial and industrial (C&I) market, empowering businesses with intelligent battery storage solutions to optimize their energy consumption and reduce costs.
Optimizing energy consumption for C&I customers in Japan
Osaki, known for its expertise in commercial energy management, sought to expand its capabilities in peak shaving and procurement optimization. By integrating our EMS okean, Osaki can now employ advanced energy optimization strategies to better manage fluctuating energy demands and dynamic market conditions.
Peak shaving helps reduce peak demand and lower energy costs, while procurement optimization ensures that electricity is sourced during the most cost-effective times. These functions are critical in Japan’s evolving energy landscape, which increasingly relies on grid stability and effective cost management.
Seamless digital integration – no hardware required
Unlike traditional EMS integrations, we did not need to ship any hardware to Japan. Instead, Osaki provided its own device, allowing us to conduct direct compatibility tests with our okean software. This integration is not only a technical achievement but also a testament to the performance and commitment of our team. We have made extensive efforts to ensure that okean works smoothly on third-party hardware, and have conducted extensive tests with Osaki’s Aiel Master device in our laboratory.
This integration is not a one-time implementation, but the beginning of a continuous collaboration. We continue to work closely with Osaki to ensure long-term performance, adaptability, and mutual success.
In addition to the backend integration, we have also integrated our frontend into Osaki’s portal. Thanks to our white-label flexibility and vendor-independent approach, all data generated by okean is fully accessible and tailored within Osaki’s EMS interface.
The integration runs through a single interface that allows both EMS platforms to exchange critical energy data. Our EMS, okean, forecasts battery operation for the coming week based on market signals, electricity prices, and grid conditions. At the same time, Osaki’s EMS provides weather forecasts, PV generation estimates, and load forecasts, enhancing its forecasts through load management to ensure that the planned battery plan is executed as accurately as possible. The result is a fully optimized, AI-free, linear optimization model that enables both efficiency and cost savings.
A scalable solution for the energy transition in Japan
Given the increasing importance of decentralized energy systems, smart grid innovations, and the liberalization of the electricity market in Japan, this project sets a strong benchmark for future energy management strategies for commercial and industrial customers. The flexible and scalable nature of our EMS enables seamless integration with other industrial systems, increasing energy efficiency without the need for additional on-site hardware.
