ToggleA new large-scale battery storage facility was successfully commissioned in Reußenköge (Schleswig-Holstein). Together with Dirkshof, be.storaged has realized a 20 MW battery system with a capacity of 40 MWh.
The system supplements the existing wind turbines with a scalable storage solution and enables significantly more flexible use of wind power. Surplus energy is stored and fed back into the grid as required – a key contribution to the integration of renewable energies.
Taking wind energy further
For Dirkshof, the battery storage system is a logical next step in the further development of existing wind energy projects. The intelligent combination of generation and storage creates additional flexibility and increases the efficiency of wind farms – especially in times of high feed-in and limited grid capacities.
The site in Reußenköge is an example of how renewable energy projects can be taken further with innovative storage solutions: away from pure electricity production and towards an integrated, flexible energy system.
From planning to practice
The Oldenburg-based company be.storaged is responsible for the planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of the facility. The large-scale battery storage facility was put into operation on schedule following completion of the construction phase. Built on an area of around 500 square meters, the facility is directly connected to the neighbouring wind farm.
Components from the system provider Sungrow and a compact station from elbag Energietechnik are used. Thanks to its modular design, the system can be flexibly scaled and adapted to different project requirements.
“At be.storaged, we implement large-scale battery storage systems like the one in Reußenköge in a standardized, modular and scalable way. With short construction times and compact space utilization, they are one of many building blocks in the transformation of the energy system. In Reußenköge, we were able to implement the battery storage system on schedule and put it directly into operation,” says Magnus Pielke, Managing Director of be.storaged.
A building block for the energy system of the future
Large-scale battery storage systems like the one in Reußenköge make an important contribution to the integration of renewable energies. They increase grid stability, reduce curtailments and enable wind power to be used more economically.
With projects like this, be.storaged is continuing to drive forward the expansion of intelligent storage solutions – as an integral part of a sustainable and flexible energy system.
