be.storaged realizes 15 MW / 30 MWh large-scale storage system together with Terra One
Another milestone for the energy transition in Lower Saxony has been reached in Ahlerstedt in the district of Stade: After a construction period of around six months, a large-scale battery storage system with a capacity of 15 MW and a capacity of 30 MWh was successfully commissioned. The project was developed by Terra One, and the system is implemented and will be operated in the future by be.storaged.
The installed storage capacity corresponds to the average daily power consumption of around 2,500 households. The storage system absorbs excess electricity from wind and photovoltaic systems in the windy north and makes it available when energy is needed – an important contribution to grid stability and the efficient integration of renewable energies.
From planning to operation – implementation by be.storaged
Terra One developed the battery storage system up to the “Ready-to-Build” phase and remains the owner of the system. The storage system was built on a plot of land measuring approximately 1,300 square meters in the Oersdorf district of Ahlerstedt. The grid connection was carried out in close coordination with the regional grid operator EWE NETZ GmbH.
be.storaged, as a project partner, took over the complete structural implementation as well as the subsequent operation and technical maintenance of the system. This means that be.storaged is responsible for all central steps in turning the project idea into a reliable and economically operated storage solution.

Intelligent operation and secure financing
The storage system is optimized via the AI-based platform developed by Terra One, which automatically determines optimal charging and discharging times based on real-time data. This enables the system to react flexibly to market changes, stabilize the power grid and support the integration of renewable energies.
The financing of the project was secured by Varengold Bank.
Thomas Antonioli, Managing Director of Terra One, also emphasizes the importance of the project:

Contribution to the regional energy transition
The battery storage system is part of the growing storage infrastructure in Lower Saxony. Due to its location in the windy north, the site is particularly well suited to absorb peak feed-in from wind energy, temporarily store it and make it usable again with a time delay. In this way, the project not only supports the regional energy transition, but also sustainably relieves the strain on the power grid.
Terra One plans to further expand its storage pipeline in Lower Saxony and other federal states. For be.storaged, the project is a further example of how high-performance large-scale storage solutions can be successfully implemented and operated in the long term.
