The Approach
An EMS increases usable grid capacity without expanding the physical infrastructure. okean manages your charging infrastructure so that your grid connection is sufficient—both today and as your portfolio continues to grow.
Dynamic charging management, peak load curtailment, telecontrol integration, and much more—vendor-neutral and via open protocols.
Central portfolio overview at control.okean.digital: performance data, error messages, and locations at a glance.
On-site local agent: Real-time control, offline-capable, high availability even in the event of a connection interruption.
Every okean project automatically includes setup, cloud activation, and support—with a dedicated contact person and ongoing software development.

Your advantages at a glance
01
More Charging Capacity Without Expanding the Grid
Dynamic load and charging management makes optimal use of the available grid connection capacity and enables HPC expansion without the immediate need to expand the grid connection
02
Reduce Energy Costs Instead of Limiting Charging Power
The system controls load, generation, and grid requirements in real time, avoids costly peak loads, and optimizes grid fees and energy procurement—rather than simply imposing a flat-rate limit on charging power.
03
Active and Reactive Power Control Directly Within the System
okean processes external active and reactive power specifications and dynamically adjusts the charging power. In doing so, okean performs key functions of a parking controller and reduces the need for additional hardware.
04
Always ready to act—even without a connection
okean combines the reliability of local control with the advantages of a cloud-based platform. This ensures that optimization and control remain active on-site even during connection outages, while users can access energy data, status information, and analyses across locations at any time.
05
Open to existing systems and future expansions
okean controls battery storage systems, charging infrastructure, PV systems, metering devices, and other loads, and can interact with existing energy or load management systems.
06
Technology and Service: A Perfect Combination
EMS Solutions combines scalable technology with personalized collaboration on an equal footing. With software, hardware, a platform, and accompanying services and expertise, we support you in efficiently launching new locations and further developing your portfolio together with us.
Okean in Detail
One system, many use cases—each of which can be customized to your specific location and business case.
Distributes available power fairly and in real time to all charging points—based on the fair-share principle.
Dynamic load management
okean intelligently, automatically, and fairly distributes the available grid power in real time to all charging points—based on the fair-share principle.
Reduces power-based grid fees by setting a fixed power limit at the grid connection point.
Peakshaving
Transparency across all locations—live data, error codes, and history all in one interface.
Energy monitoring
okean provides a centralized platform that allows users to visualize the energy flows of all connected assets.
Additional savings potential under Section 19(2) of the StromNEV during defined peak-load time windows.
Atypical grid usage
Charging infrastructure operators can use okean to implement atypical grid usage in accordance with Section 19(2), first sentence, of the StromNEV.
Maximizes the use of self-generated solar or wind power before it is fed into the grid.
Self-consumption optimization
Okean maximizes the share of self-generated energy from PV or wind power plants, taking into account all available load-shifting and flexibility potentials.
Automatically implements signals from grid operators—in compliance with VDE-AR-N 4110, including parking controller functions.
Telecontrol Integration
Grid operators are increasingly relying on remote control signals to ensure grid stability—and okean is ready for it.
With EMS okean, we combine intelligent energy management with the possibilities of tomorrow’s energy system. The battery storage system virtually expands the grid connection, creates additional flexibility, and helps ensure that sites can be operated cost-effectively even when grid capacity is limited, without compromising customer benefits.
Sample Calculations
Using reference customers as a basis, we have prepared sample calculations for the most important use cases.
A real-world example featuring six charging points connected to a 690-kW grid connection illustrates how much power goes unused with static charging management and how okean harnesses this potential.

Questions and Answers
Yes. okean is designed to be manufacturer-independent and connects via open protocols such as Modbus TCP and IEC 60870-5-104. The okean agent acts as a gateway to your charging stations and other assets, such as PV systems or battery storage units, regardless of the manufacturer.
The control logic runs locally on the on-site okean agent. This ensures that your charging infrastructure remains operational even if the Internet connection is disrupted—critical decisions are made directly on-site, regardless of the cloud connection.
After the joint onboarding process, we’ll configure the okean agent and connect it to your existing charging infrastructure. Once cloud activation is complete and the initial connection test has been passed, your location will be ready to go—the exact duration depends on the complexity of your location and will be determined during a personalized setup consultation.
Yes. Battery storage systems can be integrated directly and optimized in conjunction with charging infrastructure, PV systems, and other assets.
Thanks to the flexible system architecture and our many years of experience with battery storage, storage systems can be seamlessly integrated into existing and future energy systems and operated on a single platform alongside other use cases.
